Danise Ritchie and Steve Jobs

Disclaimer: I know there are a lot of Apple empathizers who  can't take anything against Apple, let alone Steve jobs. They need to forgive me and I have nothing against the dead people mentioned in my post.

Today I saw a link shared in my facebook page about a comparison between Danise Ritchie and Steve Jobs. While learning computers, I studied who invented Unix and C and it was Danise Ritchie, beyond that I had no idea about his life and profession.

In October 2011, almost all the news papers, magazine, TV channels, social media buzzed with the sad demise of Apple founder Steve Jobs. I was also one of the people who condoled Steve's death and purchased some magazines just because they published Steve Jobs picture and his life story on the cover.

Only today I discovered that Danise Ritchie and Steve Jobs died almost in the same week, but I did not see any news magazine, TV, social media reporting a single word about the death of Steve Jobs. Pathetic!! Lets see what both of them did.

Steve Jobs produced Sleek looking computers with amazing GUIs for a heavy price. No Steve, there will be no expansive laptops, mac machines, iPhones, iPods, iPads and so on. What would we loose if iProducts were not flooding the market?? My estimation is "ZERO". I am not a iProduct user and still not Crippled. I still function at the same pace as an iUser would. Plus I save a lot of time by not browsing my iPhone consistently or staring at my iPad for media or playing games. I don't have to check my emails while traveling or see a video while doing something else. Plus, I don't need a Macintosh to do any of my regular work. Now who is a gainer? Obviously I, because I save all that money I would have wasted on iProducts and can donate them to charity plus save my time. I don't think I need to say anything about iPod(although I won one!) or iTunes. I rest my case here....

Danise Ritchie on the other hand invented the core of computing that is Unix and C. Unix is a robust operating system and C is robust programming language!!! Every computer science major have to pass through the rigors of Unix and C to succeed as a successful programmer. Most of the GUIs are written in C or C derived languages. No C, we would be still dealing with binary languages. Apple at some point used Unix as its operating system. Unix has regular expression that is copied and vastly used in perl language. Most of the servers run on Unix. This is the least I can say about the founder of Unix and C. But compared to Steve Jobs, what treatment did Danise Ricthie got?

This raises a very important question about whom we humans value the most? Certainly not the person who has invented and contributed the most to humanity and given his products for free; but the one who has used the invention, packaged it nicely and kept huge royalties for himself and grew rich...

From complete dependency to independence - A journey

This is middle of the week, just had a meeting and another is due in few hours, but suddenly a thought cropped up my mind and I thought what the heck let me take a break for few minutes and blog it...
This thought stemmed from searching a group email about some missing crucial info about certain social event that is going to take place this saturday. When I did not find it  in my mailbox I send a email to the group asking for the information and they quickly send the information back to me - which is much appreciated!
While growing up and even now when I go home to India, for any event/non-event, small event or anything at all, we immediately turn to someone for help or information. We are so used to it. If we have to find direction, we don't read maps, just stop and ask someone. We are just so quick in asking for help without thinking if we can do it ourselves. Few months back when I went to India, we went to a hospital for some routine check up, and immediately my mom made few phone calls to make sure that we know some doctor or atleast have some link at the hospital. For going out, we generally call a taxi cab we are familiar with.We go to a bank where one of our relatives  or friends work, we buy a product that someone known sells us. In other words, we do nothing without knowing someone. Deep inside, think about it, it comes from our dependency on the other person. We somehow refuse to live life independently.
Here, in this part of the world, things are culturally different. One has to learn to be independent very early in their lives, they need to learn how to read a map, read a bus or train schedule make a living of their own etc. When I was new in the US I made very annoying errors. I would not do my home work and search for a solution to my problems, but immediately go and ask someone about how to solve it. This is an extremely irritating behavior which I am realizing now. I have had my own share of brickbats too and now I tend to be less dependent on people and try to do my things myself.
In the academic world, I guess success also depends on how independent you are. I have seen a bunch of people from the same lab becoming successful quite easily while people like me still struggle. Underlying this probably lies the deep psychological phenomenon of dependency. The sooner you get over it, the sooner you will lead a better and independent life. I sometimes feel it is very difficult to shed your old habits and embrace something different. Is it a "Caught between two worlds" syndrome?...

While we were away

My blogs are slightly overdue. I have been thinking of putting together pictures and experiences of our recent cruise to Bahamas and stay at the west palm beach in Florida, but first things first. When we reached home almost after 9 days of absence, the first thing I did was; rushed to our backyard. To my pleasant surprise, the plants were green and healthy which means I programmed the sprinkler well (We have had drought declaration in Texas and only can run sprinkler on sundays and thursdays) which beat the Texas heat. Second thing, the Okra plant had okras as big as 10 inches and all were overgrown (Can't be consumed). Second thing, there were at least 4 big Laukis() and one of them is a 4 feet long!! There were over grown ridge gourds, but some were just right. There were pumpkin flowers, there were snake gourds again some over grown. It took me about half an hour to pluck them all and put together. It was overwhelming! Just a small note here, before we left for Bahamas, we plucked even the smallest of all vegetables assuming they will be the right size when we are back, but that was not to be. They just grow so fast and we NEVER had put any fertilizer on our garden, it is purely enriched by our own organic waste at home. I am so proud of our small vegetable garden.. Now I am thinking if people take care of their home garden, they may be self sufficient with their vegetable demand, but who cares...

Making the healthiest Lauki/bottle gourd/doodhi Raita

Lauki or doodhi is a nice, easy to grow, inexpensive and healthy vegetable. The english name of Lauki is bottle gourd and the botanical name is Lagenaria siceraria and it belongs to cucurbitaceae family(Family of gourds/pumpkins) . Here are some names in different languages:
  • India: lauki
  • Indonesia: labu
  • Japan: hyotan, yugao
  • Malaysia: labu ayer
  • Philippines: upo
  • Sri Lanka: diya labu
  • Thailand: buap khaus, nam tao
  • Vietnam: bau.
  • Chinese:  po gua, poo gua, kwa kwa, dudhi, hu gua, hu lu gua, opo
While it has a large number of health benefits that can be found else where, this vegetable can be very delicious also. We have a garden and these vegetables just grow and mature in a weeks time and I really like to cook variety of things with Lauki since the supply is very high. Not to mention the freshness and the organic nature of the vegetable. After browing for suitable recipes, I decided to go my own way.

Ingredients: 1/2 a Lauki(Fresh is better).
3 green chillies
1/2 table spoon of Panchpuran(has a mixture of jeera, dhania, black cumin, mustard and fenugreek seed)
4-5 curry leaf(Murraya koenigii) either fresh or dry .
1/2 cup yoghurt (home made is better)
cooking time : 10 mins.

First peel the gourd and wash it in water then scrape it in a wide scrapper. Get the steamer on and start steaming the vegetable. Meanwhile heat a small pan, add 1/4 spoon oil and first add the panchpuran till the seeds burst. Then add the green chilli and the curry leaf to it, stir it for 10 seconds, then switch off the stove. Mix little bit of water in the yoghurt and add salt to your taste. Within 5-7 minutes, take out the lauki from the steamer and add it to yoghurt. Then add the saute and mix properly. If you wish, add little bit of jeera powder. A very healthy lauki raita is ready for you...

The G's of Indian politics

India is going through a very revolutionary phase - a combination of awareness among younger generation, information explosion and honest chief of public offices and social actvists and NGOs are driving this movement. I am truly awed by this mass movement and feel extremely fortunate that it is happening during my life and time...
The lethal combination of a honest supreme court chief justice Sarosh Homi Kapadia, Chief of CAG Mr. Vinod Rai, social activist Anna Hazare, Prof. Subramanyam Swamy, Social activists Kiran Bedi, Arvind Kejriwal, Prashant Bhushan et al just to name a few, have unearthed a large number of scams that would have gone unnoticed. Last but not the least I would also like to mention Ms. Sucheta Dalal also for her awareness spreading campaign that makes all the difference. Then the medium such as twitter, facebook, blogspot, wordpress etc. are just the best thing that is happening to the country right now. Long live the whistle blower tribe and hope someday I can contribute to the cause. As someone just mentioned in the tweets that it is all 'G' now make news in India. That is; 2G, CAG, madam G and now Huji... Now waiting for more Gs...

Did you know this guy??!!

This morning started rather in a very anxious mode. Got up really early(4 AM) and thought shall do some quality work. As usual began checking my office email, and there was a mail by one of my ex-colleagues with whom I worked little bit before. The mail began with standard exchange of pleasantries followed by a link [Here] asking me if I knew or was in touch with this guy. I did not understand much, but opened the link and to my horror, it was about a murderer who killed an Israeli girl after an altercation. It was an extra-marital affair!! There was a photo of him on the news item with a Virginia Tech jacket on. What the heck!! This guy is from Virginia Tech?! I muttered to myself. Trying very hard to remember, I could barely have any recollection, but I think I may have seen him at Virginia Bioinformatics Institute. As we don't interact much with the students, I may not have talked with him. Now I am beginning to think what is going on? In the last 4 years, at least there are 3 incidences where I know students have turned into Psychopaths and went on in a killing spree. The first one was the infamous VT shooting in 2007, followed by a Chinese student decapitating a girl in a cafeteria in 2008 and this is the third one! This is very alarming and the trend does not look very good at all. Are these incidences occurring by chance or there is something big associated with it? Could there be a factor? Are we producing Psychos in our campuses? Hope not and hope the disturbed people get some help on time...

The art of fasting

Fasting is a very common thing among living beings mostly animals. Lots of animals undergo a period of hibernation, when they undergo metamorphosis, lot other animals fast during unfavorable seasons and when there is a food scarcity. We humans generally don't fast naturally, but some of us do so for religious reasons. Religion certainly imposes fast to lure people into prospects such as rewards in terms of wealth, happiness so on and so forth. But actually fasting does wonders to our bodies apart from saving food. Mostly we over indulge in food and consume much more than required by our body and most of them are built into fat and other reserves while our digestive system has to work non-stop to clear these unwanted things from our digestive tract and the large intestine works to expel it out. Fasting once in a while can do lot of good things such as:
  1. rest the digestive system
  2. allow for cleansing and detoxification of the body
  3. create a break in eating patterns, while shining a spotlight on them
  4. promote greater mental clarity
  5. cleanse and heal "stuck" emotional patterns
  6. lead to a feeling of physical lightness, increasing energy level
  7. promote an inner stillness, enhancing spiritual connection

Now, how to fast? Is there a easy way to stop cravings. It may sound difficult in the first instance, but it can be easy if you practice. Initially you may feel hungry, but if you don't supply any food to your system, it will slowly retract and you will not feel hunger anymore. What you may need to do is hydrate yourself adequately.

Today we are observing fast in order to express our solidarity to Anna Hazare's fight against corruption. We hope that the food grains we save today will be put to better use...

Mind is like a Parachute: Functions well when it is open

Disclaimer: I have stolen this article from a friend's friend's facebook page. Found this to be incredibly interesting. This is an experiment conducted by Washington Post columnist Gene Weingarten who won Pulitzer prize for writing this piece of article.

Joshua Bell
PERCEPTION

THE SITUATION
In Washington , DC , at a Metro Station, on a cold January morning in 2007, this man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, approximately 2,000 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After about 3 minutes, a middle-aged man noticed that there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds, and then he hurried on to meet his schedule.

About 4 minutes later:
The violinist received his first dollar. A woman threw money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.
At 6 minutes:
A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.
At 10 minutes:
A 3-year old boy stopped, but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head the whole time. This action was repeated by several other children, but every parent - without exception - forced their children to move on quickly.
At 45 minutes:
The musician played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32.
After 1 hour:
He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed and no one applauded. There was no recognition at all.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before, Joshua Bell sold-out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100 each to sit and listen to him play the same music.

This is a true story. Joshua Bell, playing incognito in the D.C. Metro Station, was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people's priorities.
This experiment raised several questions:
*In a common-place environment, at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty?
*If so, do we stop to appreciate it?
*Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?

One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this:
If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made . . ..
How many other things are we missing as we rush through life?

Enjoy life NOW ..

it has an expiry date !

Anna's struggle against corruption

Today Anna enters the 7th day of fasting fighting against corruption!! I thought of fasting today for supporting this issue, but just could not. Missing meal by one time in a day seems like such a huge deal. I am wondering how a man 75 years of age is doing this for the sake of the country...
The more disturbing thing about this is the paid media has started working again printing obscure articles against Anna's crusade against corruption. I was very tempted to post a comment on one such article written by Salil Desai in DNA India [Link here], but could not do that because it needs registration and access to all my personal information. In any case, let me analyze the article here. The author of the article is a filmmaker and a known govt. supporter. His arguments goes as below:

1) Common people in India are corrupt, so Anna's movement will not change anything unless we change ourselves.

My view: Agreed! Many people like to bribe for petty things like for a Police ticket, for any sarkari job etc. Suppose say, all of us will stop paying bribes, what will happen? Will it stop a mammoth scam like 2G spectrum scam/bofors scam/CWG scam/Housing society scam... No sir, it won't. Because there are 2 aspects to corruption in a country. One is corruption at a personal level and a corruption at a national level. By being clean you are cleaning your personal character, but this will not change much at the national level. Because the pople who make policies are different - are the so called elected leaders. Once they are elected they are safe for 5 years. Can you do anything to topple them? No you can't! They will continue to do what they like and most political leaders do exactly that. What common people would do if they have no choice to vote for? Have you thought about this? My previous article that explains Janlokpal in detail has a number of solutions. One has to really get into the bill to understand how it is going to work.

2) Common people in India are illiterate and have a herd mentality. They support Anna for the sake of supporting without realizing the consequence...

My View: I have not seen a much stupider statement than this before. The author says that the ones that support are illiterate. But I would challenge the author about how much he himslef knows about the bill? Does he have a solution as how to solve this problem, or he is just blabbering for the sake of blabbering.

3) Only 10% of the net users support Anna's movement, so it does not have a great support base.

My View: So, you are trying to dismiss the movement saying that it is not a populist movement and can be ignored. I am wondering what you would have done if all these supporters have not poured in the first place. Probably, Anna would have been dad by now. India is a great country and this type of selfless movement is only possible in India. because of sacrifice of few people we are enjoying a free India and because of Anna's sacrifice we will enjoy a clean governance. Do you have anything to say on this?

There are few other articles that makes an attempt to argue against Anna's method of tackling. I am not even willing to get into the details of those articles. One such article was written by Arundhati Roy and is a useless piece of article without any content. I would like to hear people' views on this. Jai Hind...

Anna's struggle against corruption and the detractors

Recently, we have seen a big uprise in the number of people voicing their opinion on corruption. This is certainly a very good trend. It makes us feel that we are changing and changing in the right direction. The younger mass is actively participating in the struggle of fight against corruption, they are more aware, less selfish and have more "national character". Today I read a ridiculous piece of article on Times of India that tries to meekly make a case on why Anna should fail. I did not quite understand what the author wanted to say other than making a personal dig against Anna. He was trying very hard to say Anna is imitating Gandhi and imitators are loosers. But he did not say anywhere why imitating Gandhi is such a bad idea when the nation is reeling against corruption.
Lets analyze on what Anna wants to say in his Lokpal:

After reading the article written  below, please state whether we need proper agitation against corruption or not. That same TOI article also stated that - why common people are so much after corruption, they are the root cause of all corruption. Do I agree - yes I do. But there are 2 types of characters every one of us has: 1) personal character 2) national character. Personal character is concerned with our day to day living well being etc. and national character is the big  picture, that is our love and affection for our own motherlad and its well being. I think it is unfortunate to compare personal and national character of people. So, it is extremely unfortunate that TOI publishes such article...

Salient features of Jan Lokpal Bill
1. An institution called LOKPAL at the centre and LOKAYUKTA in each state will be set up

2. Like Supreme Court and Election Commission, they will be completely independent of the governments. No minister or bureaucrat will be able to influence their investigations.

3. Cases against corrupt people will not linger on for years anymore: Investigations in any case will have to be completed in one year. Trial should be completed in next one year so that the corrupt politician, officer or judge is sent to jail within two years.

4. The loss that a corrupt person caused to the government will be recovered at the time of conviction.

5. How will it help a common citizen: If any work of any citizen is not done in prescribed time in any government office, Lokpal will impose financial penalty on guilty officers, which will be given as compensation to the complainant.

6. So, you could approach Lokpal if your ration card or passport or voter card is not being made or if police is not registering your case or any other work is not being done in prescribed time. Lokpal will have to get it done in a month’s time. You could also report any case of corruption to Lokpal like ration being siphoned off, poor quality roads been constructed or panchayat funds being siphoned off. Lokpal will have to complete its investigations in a year, trial will be over in next one year and the guilty will go to jail within two years.

7. But won’t the government appoint corrupt and weak people as Lokpal members? That won’t be possible because its members will be selected by judges, citizens and constitutional authorities and not by politicians, through a completely transparent and participatory process.

8. What if some officer in Lokpal becomes corrupt? The entire functioning of Lokpal/ Lokayukta will be completely transparent. Any complaint against any officer of Lokpal shall be investigated and the officer dismissed within two months.

9. What will happen to existing anti-corruption agencies? CVC, departmental vigilance and anti-corruption branch of CBI will be merged into Lokpal. Lokpal will have complete powers and machinery to independently investigate and prosecute any officer, judge or politician.

10. It will be the duty of the Lokpal to provide protection to those who are being victimized for raising their voice against corruption.
******************************************************************************
To,
Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India
Mrs. Pratibha Patil, President of India
Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of the United Progressive Alliance
Dear Manmohanji, Pratibhaji and Soniaji,

I am writing to inform you that on April 5th 2011, I will fast in solidarity with fast unto death satyagraha of veteran social activist and Gandhian Anna Hazare demanding passage of the 'Jan Lokpal bill'. I fully endorse the Jan Lokpal Bill, an empowering anti-corruption bill drafted by leading civil society activists and oppose the government's attempt to pass a watered down version of the same.

Government's versions of Lokpal Bill have been introduced eight times in Parliament since 1968, all of which lacked teeth to fight corruption and even the weakest version of this bill has not been passed so far because the bill seeks to investigate politicians. The latest draft of Lokpal Bill prepared by the Government rather than strengthening the existing weak anti-corruption systems, seeks to completely insulate politicians from any kind of action initiated against them.

The people's version of this bill, Jan Lokpal Bill, gives more power to fight corruption effectively. Salient features of this bill include central and state level independent bodies Lokpal and Lokayukta respectively, having power to:

1. Complete any investigation and trial within two years so the corrupt can be brought to justice immediately
2. Order dismissal of a corrupt officer,
3. Investigate and prosecute any judge,
4. Enquire into and hear every complaint and prosecution against any officer or politician without needing any sort of permission. Politicians will not be involved in the selections of chairperson and members of Lokpal & Lokayukta, which will be done through a transparent and public participatory process. This bill ensures that public grievances get resolved in a time bound manner and loss caused to the tax payer due to corruption will be recovered from the convicts. Also, the convicted may be sentenced a minimum 5 years and a maximum of life imprisonment.

I have decided to join hands with millions of my compatriots in this crucial fight against corruption and demand that the Government immediately pass Jan Lokpal bill.

Sincerely,

******************************************************************************

 S. No. Government's proposal (Lokpal Bill) Civil Society's Proposal (Jan Lokpal Bill)
 1. Lokpal will not have any power to either initiate action suo motu in any case or even receive complaints of corruption from general public. The general public will make complaints to the speaker of Lok Sabha or chairperson of Rajya Sabha. Only those complaints forwarded by Speaker of Lok Sabha/ Chairperson of Rajya Sabha to Lokpal would be investigated by Lokpal. This not only severely restricts the functioning of Lokpal, it also provides a tool in the hands of the ruling party to have only those cases referred to Lokpal which pertain to political opponents (since speaker is always from the ruling party). It will also provide a tool in the hands of the ruling party to protect its own politicians. Lokpal will have powers to initiate investigations suo moto in any case and also to directly entertain complaints from the public. It will not need reference or permission from anyone to initiate investigation into any case.
 2. Lokpal has been proposed to be an advisory body. Lokpal, after enquiry in any case, will forward its report to the competent authority. The competent authority will have final powers to decide whether to take action on Lokpal’s report or not. In the case of cabinet ministers, the competent authority is Prime Minister. In the case of PM and MPs the competent authority is Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha, as the case may be. In the coalition era when the government of the day depends upon the support of its political partners, it will be impossible for the PM to act against any of his cabinet ministers on the basis of Lokpal’s report. For instance, if there were such a Lokpal today and if Lokpal made a recommendation to the PM to prosecute A. Raja, obviously the PM will not have the political courage to initiate prosecution against A. Raja. Likewise, if Lokpal made a report against the PM or any MP of the ruling party, will the house ever pass a resolution to prosecute the PM or the ruling party MP? Obviously, they will never do that. Lokpal is not an advisory body. It will have the powers to initiate prosecution against any one >after completion of investigations in any case. It will also have powers to order disciplinary proceedings against any government servant.
3.  The bill is legally unsound. Lokpal has not< been given police powers. Therefore Lokpal cannot register an FIR. Therefore all the enquiries conducted by Lokpal will tantamount to “preliminary enquiries”. Even if the report of Lokpal is accepted, who will file the chargesheet in the court? Who will initiate prosecution? Who will appoint the prosecution lawyer? The entire bill is silent on that. Lokpal would have police powers. It will be able to register FIR, proceed with criminal investigations and launch prosecution.
 4. The bill does not say what will be the role of CBI after this bill. Can CBI and Lokpal investigate the same case or CBI will lose its powers to investigate politicians? If the latter is true, then this bill is meant to completely insulate politicians from any investigations whatsoever which are possible today through CBI. That part of CBI, which deals with cases of corruption, will be merged into Lokpal so that there is just one effective and independent body to take action against corruption.
 5.  There is a strong punishment for “frivolous” complaints. If any complaint is found to be false and frivolous, Lokpal will have the power to send the complainant to jail through summary trial but if the complaint were found to be true, the Lokpal will not have the power to send the corrupt politicians to jail! So the bill appears to be meant to browbeat, threaten and discourage those fighting against corruption. Deterrence has been provided against frivolous complaints in the form of financial penalties against the complainant, however, Lokayukta is empowered to prosecute the corrupt and take disciplinary action against them.
 6. Lokpal will have jurisdiction only on MPs, ministers and PM. It will not have jurisdiction over officers. The officers and politicians do not indulge in corruption separately. In any case of corruption, there is always an involvement of both of them. So according to government’s proposal, every case would need to be investigated by both CVC and Lokpal. So now, in each case, CVC will look into the role of bureaucrats while Lokpal will look into the role of politicians. Obviously the case records will be with one agency and the way government functions it will not share its records with the other agency. It is also possible that in the same case the two agencies arrive at completely opposite conclusions. Therefore it appears to be a sure way of killing any case. Lokpal will have jurisdiction over politicians, officials and judges. CVC and the entire vigilance machinery of government will be merged into Lokpal.
 7. Lokpal will consist of three members, all of them being retired judges. There is no reason why the choice should be restricted to judiciary. By creating so many post retirement posts for judges, the government will make the retiring judges vulnerable to government influences just before retirement as is already happening in the case of retiring bureaucrats. The retiring judges, in the hope of getting post retirement employment would do the bidding of the government in their last few years. Lokpal would have ten members and one Chairperson. Out of them four need to have legal background (they need not be judges). Others could be from any background.
 8. The selection committee consists of Vice President, PM, Leaders of both houses, Leaders of opposition in both houses, Law Minister and Home minister. Barring Vice President, all of them are politicians whose corruption Lokpal is supposed to investigate. So there is a direct conflict of interest. Also selection committee is heavily loaded in favor of the ruling party. Effectively ruling party will make the final selections. And obviously ruling party will never appoint strong and effective Lokpal. Selection committee consists of members from judicial background, Chief Election Commissioner, Comptroller and Auditor General of India and international awardees (like Nobel prize winners and Magsaysay awardees of Indian origin). A detailed transparent and participatory selection process has been prescribed.g
 9. Lokpal will not have powers to investigate any case against PM, which deals with foreign affairs, security and defence. This means that corruption in defence deals will be out of any scrutiny whatsoever. It will become impossible to investigate into any Bofors in future. There is no such bar on Lokpal’s powers.
 10. Whereas a time limit of six months to one year has been prescribed for Lokpal to enquire, however, subsequently, there is no time limit prescribed for completion of trial. Investigations should be completed within one year. Trial should get over within the next one year.
 11. It does not deal with corruption of Bureaucrats. Corrupt bureaucrats continue in their job without any actions against them. Lokpal will have power to direct disciplinary action, including dismissal of a corrupt officer from job.
 12.  It does not talk of investigation of complaints against judges Lokpal will have powers to initiate investigations on complaints of corruption against judges.
 13.  Speaker would decide which complaints shall be enquired into by Lokpal. Lokpal will not be able to dismiss any complaint from public without hearing the complainant.
 14. Our entire governance system suffers from inadequate public grievance redressal systems, which force people to pay bribes. Lokpal bill does not address this issue. Lokpal will have the powers to orders redressal in a time bound manner. It will have powers to impose financial penalties on guilty officers, which would be paid to complainant as compensation.
 15. Large number of people raising their voice against political corruption are being murdered. Lokpal does not have any powers to provide protection to them. Lokpal will have powers to provide protection against physical and professional victimization of whistleblowers.
 16.  Nothing has been provided in law to recover ill gotten wealth. A corrupt person can come out of jail and enjoy that money. Loss caused to the government due to corruption will be recovered from all accused.
 17. Under the present law, there is Small punishment for corruption- Punishment for corruption is minimum 6 months and maximum 7 years. Enhanced punishment - The punishment would be minimum 5 years and maximum of life imprisonment.

Being at the Right Time and Right Place

To my repertoire of remedy for success, these two are relatively new. Today while working on one of my blog posts which I write for SAB, I realized that I may be making a mistake if I invest my time working on this instead of working on something that is the demand of time. Then I sneaked away from my "demanding" work to write little bit on this. You may get some benefit out of this.
Often times, we tend to do things, that is the not the demand of the hour. Giving simpler example for this may be; during lunch time, you don't eat lunch and do something else, which may or may not be very important. As a result, you skip lunch, and the long term effect for that is ill health. As well as we know, health is the biggest wealth we can have, may later be a limiting factor to the success that the work would have brought you about which you chose to carry on at the cost of lunch.
I have to look at pricing information on some RNAseq service providers and if I delay this and instead write my SAB blog, then the meeting that is suppose to be held in the evening will be fruitless. To make up for that we have to arrange extra meeting seeing convenience and make some travel etc. which will eventually cost more time and energy. So, in the end a job not done at the right time makes it more difficult afterwards.
Similarly, being at the right place at the right time is the major key for many success stories. You may be applying for 100's of jobs, but you need just the one, where your skill sets are required at that particular instance. Then you are good. So, job searchers, don't give up till you hit the right job which needs you at the right time...

What is economy?!

From a common man's perspective, what does economy really means? Does it mean the GDP or the per capita income of the people or purchasing power or what? I will never be able to understand all these.
Today I read a report that says China's economic growth from 1970s to mid of 1980s was hot air. He also predicts China's speculative growth from 1980s to mid of 2005 is also hot air. What does it mean? How can an economy that is predicted as good and solid be hot air? In other words, good economy is not necessarily good as projected, it may be hot air(inflated). So, whom should we common people believe? Is it the media that plays a major role in making and breaking economies?

In good old days, when there were no definition of countries, rich princely states were those that had adequate food, clothing and administration and wealth (in form of gold). People were buying and selling goods by paying gold coins and it was the standard. That was the basic form of economy. As civilization grew, boundaries were raised around regions marking them as countries, policies were made, then came the dirty economics policy. This means, people that work hard or produce goods are not necessarily the richer people, rather they are very poor. Where as countries where people worked least, had enough entertainment and breaks were richer and could afford more. How does this equation work? The developed countries (read USA) raised their currency price, thus are able to buy more goods from countries whose currencies are cheaper. In return, they would sell the arms and ammunition, at a higher rate gaining their currency back. For that, they have to make sure there is unrest everywhere in the world. But things always don't work the way the developed countries plan. Because of their lazy habits, the jobs are done better by the poorer countries and hence they have steady flow of income and they can spend on stuff. Where as the lazier lot started loosing jobs and had less money to spend and depend on govt. programs for their survival. This makes the "developed" country poorer and people un-productive and hence a economic collapse. Up to this I understand well, but I still don't understand why China had to buy US bonds. Is it for interest returns? China can invest the money in something else or may be invest in India where the interest rate is much higher. Or do they think dollar is the global standard and Indian currency is unstable? In any case, I seriously don't understand all these economic stuff other than the simple equation that you buy and sell products. It would have been a better world if economics did not expand beyond that...

Subramanyam Swamy's Interview on Fox channel

Recently Subramanyam Swamy was under fire for writing an article against Islamic terrorism in India. In the aftermath of the Mumbai July 14th Opera house and Zaveri bazar blast, Dr. Swamy wrote an article to unite Indians against Islamic terrorism and was immediately under scanner for spreading hatred. I have read the article and don't find any hatred in it. It is just political vendetta by the ruling party that supports terrorism to get muslim votes. How incorrect is that. Here is the link to the article swamy wrote .Click Here
The video of Dr. Swamy's interview on fox is below:

Is Ramdev a real fraud?

Baba Ramdev is a well known Yoga guru in India and abroad. Millions of Indians and global citizens  have greatly benefited from his yoga and pranayama teachings including me. Yoga is a 5000 years old science founded by many sages and most prominent of which is Patanjali. It was there in texts but no one really tried to oversimplify it and spread it the way Ramdev did. He is a savvy businessman also;  who created a proliferring  business  empire worth 20 K crore without any seed money!  His own Patanjali yoga pitha along with the medicine factory in incredible and has been serving people who have lost all hope s from modern medicine. I decided to write on this topic after hearing 2 of my very close friends criticizing Ramdev. While, I did not agree with them, I did not get into an argument either for fear of turning the situation into a hostile one.
My friends retorted Ramdev is a fraud very  adamantly. Then I gently asked why so? Then comes the reply, he killed many people with his medicines. I said how do you know? They said he killed one of his close friend’s son with his medicine.  Then I asked, when the ruling party is so much against him, why can’t they prove anything against him? Then they said Vrinda Karat proved something against him and he sucked into congress and got away and now he is turning against them(read congress). Now the next question I should have asked is why the ruling party is not using that event against him, but I kept quiet because I knew they were so convinced that Ramdev is a fraud, no matter how much ever I say in support of him, will not actually change anything.
Now, I have several follow up questions:
Which medicine does not kill people? Do people go against all of them saying the doctors are fraud or the pharmaceuticals are fraud? According to me, chemotherapy and surgeries alone have killed many more people than any other drug. It has never been the case, where people turn to Ayurveda as first line of treatment. They go to traditional therapies and when everything fails, then they reluctantly turn towards alternatives. In many case, it would have been already terminal or the patient is already damaged beyond repair. Then why blame Ayurveda.
The second thing is why Vrinda Karat could not prove her allegations that Ramdev uses human skulls? Many others also say he uses heavy metals for treatment. While I am not aware of this particular allegation, I know in Ayurveda, people do use lot of “Bhasma” and they could be of gold, silver or any other origin. My understanding tells that we still need trace amounts of heavy metals in our body. Not all heavy metals are toxic to our body. So, why hue and cry against Ramdev?  I think there is a particular section of the society very scared about Ramdev’s popularity and simplicity. They think, he may gain momentum and people will start getting better and they may lose business.  I wish those people should focus their campaign against coke, junk food instead;  it will bring about some good to the society…

Mumbai attacked again!!

As sad as it sounds, Mumbai is attacked again... How long can we tolerate this? Does life has no value? Whoever is behind these blasts, does really believe that by killing innocent people will solve their problem?? At this moment I don't want to sound politically correct. A particular community is so venomous and intolerant that they can continue killing innocent in the name of their god or to take revenge on a simple actions such as a cartoon or a broken old dilapidated mosque. Deep inside, I can only see the desire of this community to control the minds of people by creating fear psychosis. This is against the very principle the earth exists. People or humans are not born to do things out of fear, rather out of their own good will. By inciting fear we may be able to get things done by some people, but we don't really create a civil society.
I once again appeal people to dump the ideas that preaches hatred and fear in the name of religion. May all be free sooner from the clutches of faith.

Here is the chronology of terror attacks on Mumbai:
12 March 1993 - Series of 13 bombs go off, killing 257 6 December 2002 - Bomb goes off in a bus in Ghatkopar, killing 2 27 January 2003 - Bomb goes off on a bicycle in Vile Parle, killing 1 14 March 2003 - Bomb goes off in a train in Mulund, killing 10 28 July 2003 - Bomb goes off in a bus in Ghatkopar, killing 4 25 August 2003 - Two Bombs go off in cars near the Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazaar, killing 50 11 July 2006 - Series of seven bombs go off in trains, killing 209 26 November 2008 to 29 November 2008 - Coordinated series of attacks, killing at least 172. 13 July 2011 - 13 July 2011 Mumbai bombings

Growing wheat grass

Wheat grass is known as a super food, some say rather "touted as super food" - but I would not agree with them ... I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and I took some medications, but it did not seem to work out well. I started my intake of wheat grass and it proved to be as beneficial as the medicine otherwise would. However, growing wheat grass is not a very easy deal, but once you standardize how to grow them, then it is a piece of cake. You have to remember to take care of them twice a day, else, you loose it to mold and other natural/unnatural predators. Recently I bought a kit from amazon, that works wonders growing these. I will post the photographs in a while.
The wheat grass kit consist of trays and on the top of the tray there is a flat sieve like structure and on top of that there is a plastic sheet. All can be independent of each other and stack very well.
This is 3 days after germination. You can start washing the culture at this stage. Notice, the culture is on the sieve and the thin plastic sheet.

You can keep covering with this green house cover till day 5 or till you see any mold growth. Once mold growth is detected, take the cover off.

5-6 days growth

Almost ready for harvest
You can roll off the roots after harvest. Notice how the roots form a massive sheath like structure. This is the structure that holds water for the wheat grass culture.
This is when you keep it under sun and water twice a day or you are away from home:((

First soak the wheat seeds overnight and the next day spread them uniformly over the plastic sheet of the  kits. The plastic sheet stack over the sieve and the sieve sits on the tray. Spray water and cover the tray with the black specified cover. Everyday, spray some water twice a day, so that the seeds are adequately moisturized. In about 24-36 hours after getting transferred to the trays, the seeds will germinate and you can see the green epicotyl. Once you see the epicotyl, take off the black cover and replace this with the white green house cover. Keep spraying water twice a day. In about 2-3 days after germination, the root growth will be strong enough, so that the trays can be washed under running water. This prevents mold or bacterial growth. After about 4 days of sowing the seeds, you can take off the green house cover and start washing the trays twice a day. Make sure, you don't keep the trays under direct sunlight or in a windy place. This way, the seeds itwll dry quicker and you will need to water them more frequently. The best place to keep them is inside the house.

I Tried growing mustard green un-successfully on the tray!!

Same fate with methi seeds - did not come out well at all!!

Making Aloo Parval(Potal) Rasa

Today I made mouth watering aloo-parval rasa. This is  a east Indian delight mostly prepared by Oriyas and Bengalis. A very delicious dish served during wedding parties and so on. You can savor this with roti or rice...

Ingredients:

1 KG Parval
2 Big potatoes
1 and half onions
1 and half big tomatoes
5 cloves of garlic
2 cube inch sized ginger
Dhania(corriander) powder.
1 table spoon corriander cumin seeds
1 table spoon turmeric
1 table spoon red chillies
salt for your taste
2 table spoons oil
cook time: 45 mins in slow flame.

Process:

Cut onions and tomatoes into small pieces. Heat one big pan and pour 1/2 table spoon oil in it. After oil gets heated, add cumin seeds and wait till it bursts. Then add onion and tomatoes followed by turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt. Keep stirring and cover it till onion and tomatoes start melting with each other(approx. 5-7 minutes). Meanwhile wash your parval (potal in oriya) and potatoes nicely and then start cutting parval into 2 from the center. Remove the ends of parval. Cut potatoes also into the same size as that of parval. Heat another pan and put the remaining 1 and half spoon oil into it. After oil is hot, put all the vegetables into it and start frying them in slow flame. Take care that it does not get burnt.
Meanwhile, once the onion and tomatoes are cooked(approx. 7 minutes) grate the garlic and ginger into it and stir it for 2 minutes. After it is little bit cooked, pour enough water and cover it, so that onion, ginger, garlic and tomatoes are thoroughly cooked inside. Meanwhile, keep stirring the potato and parval on the other pan, till they all look golden brown(approximately 10-15 minutes). Check water on the ginger-garlic onion mix, so that it is not burnt. Once all the water is evaporated, add some more. After 20 minutes of cooking ginger garlic mix, add the half cooked potato and parval into it and cover. Cook in slow flame, and stir it in between, so that every side gets cooked. In about 45 minutes, you will have yummy aloo parval dish ready.

This recipe requires very little oil, so good for health. Enjoy!!

Rahul Gandhi or Raul Vinci(No pun intended)

I have been forwarded this by a friend of mine, and thought of posting it here... Enjoy reading to know the truth about "Roma kanya and her son".

Rahul gandhi Exposed by an IIT student...
THE CURIOUS CASE OF RAHUL GANDHI

Rahul Gandhi: "I feel ashamed to call myself an INDIAN after seeing
what has happened here in UP".

PLEASE DON'T BE ASHAMED OF U.P. YET

Please don't be ashamed of Uttar Pradesh yet. Congress ruled the State
for the Majority of the duration Pre Independence to Post
Independence.. from 1939 to 1989 ( barring the Periods of Emergency..
Thanks to your Grand Mom Indira G. and a couple of transitional
Governments)

8 out of the total 14 Prime Ministers of India have been from UP, 6
out of those 8 have been from Congress...

I think your party had more than half a century and half a Dozen PM's
to build a State...

The Reason Mulayam Singh, subsequently came to Power is because your
party wasn't exactly Gandhian in their dealings in the State.. So May
be If you look at in totality the present chaos in UP is the outcome
of the glorious leadership displayed by Congress in UP for about 50
years!

So Please don't feel ashamed as yet Dear Rahul.. For Mayawati is only
using the Land Acquisition Bill which your party had itself used to
LOOT the Farmers many times in the Past!

WHY DIDN'T YOUR PARTY CHANGE THE BILL WHEN IT WAS IN POWER FOR SO LONG?

Not that I Endorse what Mayawati is doing.. What Mayawati is doing is
Unacceptable..

But the past actions of your party and your recent comments, puts a
question mark on your INTENT and CONSISTENCY.

YOU REALLY WANT TO FEEL ASHAMED

But don't be disappointed, I would give you ample reasons to feel ashamed...

You really want to feel Ashamed..?

First Ask Pranav Mukherjee, Why isn't he giving the details of the
account holders in the Swiss Banks.

Ask your Mother, Who is impeding the Investigation against Hasan Ali?

Ask her, Who got 60% Kickbacks in the 2G Scam ?

Kalamdi is accused of a Few hundred Crores, Who Pocketed the Rest in
the Common Wealth Games?

Ask Praful Patel what he did to the Indian Airlines? Why did Air India
let go of th e Profitable Routes ?

Why should the Tax Payer pay for the Air India losses, when you intend
to eventually DIVEST IT ANYWAY!!!

Also, You People can't run an Airline Properly. How can we expect you
to run the Nation?

Ask Manmohan Singh. Why/What kept him quiet for so long?

Are Kalmadi and A Raja are Scapegoats to save Big Names like Harshad
Mehta was in the 1992 Stock Market Scandal ?

Who let the BHOPAL GAS TRAGEDY Accused go Scot Free? ( 20,000 People
died in that Tragedy)

Who ordered the State Sponsored Massacre of SIKHS in 84?

Please read more about, How Indira Gandhi pushed the Nation Under
Emergency in 76-77, after the HC declared her election to Lok Sabha
Void!

(I bet She had utmost respect for DEMOCRACY and JUDICIARY and FREE PRESS)

I guess you know the answers already. So My question is, Why the
Double Standards in Judging Mayawati and members of your Family and
Party?

I condemn Mayawati. But Is She the only one you feel Ashamed for?

What about the ones close to you? For their contribution to the
Nation's Misery is beyond comparison.

You talk about the Land being taken away from the Farmers. How many
Suicides have happened under your Parties Rule in Vidarbha ? Does t
hat Not Ashame You ?

THE 72,000 CRORE LOAN WAIVER

Your Party gave those Farmers a 72,000 Crore Loan Waiver. Which didn't
even reach the Farmers by the way.

So, Why don't you focus on implementing the policies which your govt.
has undertaken, instead of earning brownie points by trying to
manufacture consent by bombarding us with pictures of having food with
Poor Villagers....

You want to feel ashamed. You can feel ashamed for your Party taking
CREDIT for DEBITING the Public Money (72,000 crores) from the
Government Coffers and literally Wasting it...

You want to feel ashamed.. Feel ashamed for that...

WHY ONLY HIGHLIGHT THIS ARREST?

Dear Rahul, to refresh your memory, you were arrested/detained by the
FBI the BOSTON Airport in September 2001.

You were carrying with you $ 1,60,000 in Cash. You couldn't explain
why you were carrying so much Cash.

Incidentally He was with his Columbian girlfriend Veronique Cartelli,
ALLEGED LY, the Daughter of Drug Mafia.

9 HOURS he was kept at the Airport.

Later then freed on the intervention of the then Prime Minister
Mr.Vajpayee.. FBI filed an equivalent of an FIR in US and released
him.

When FBI was asked to divulge the information, by Right/Freedom to
Information Activists about the reasons Rahul was arrested ... FBI
asked for a NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE from Rahul Gandhi.

So Subramaniyam Swami wrote a Letter to Rahul Gandhi, " If you have
NOTHING to HIDE, Give us the Permission"

HE NEVER REPLIED!

Why did that arrest not make Headlines Rahul? You could have gone to
the Media and told, "I am ashamed to call myself an INDIAN?".

Or is it that, you only do like to highlight Symbolic Arrests (like in
UP) and not Actual Arrests ( In BOSTON)

Kindly Clarify.....

In any case, you want to feel ashamed, Read Along...

YOUR MOTHER'S SO CALLED SACRIFICE OF GIVING UP PRIME MINISTER SHIP in 2004.

According to a Provision in the Citizenship Act.

A Foreign National who becomes a Citizen of India, is bounded by the
same restrictions, which an Indian would face, If he/she were to
become a Citizen of Italy.

(Condition based on principle of reciprocity)

[READ ANNEXURE- 1&2]

Now Since you can't become a PM in Italy, Unless you are born there.

Likewise an Italian Citizen can't become Indian PM, unless He/She is
not born here!

Dr. SUBRAMANIYAM SWAMI (The Man who Exposed the 2G Scam) sent a letter
to the PRESIDENT OF INDIA bringing the same to his Notice. [READ
LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT IN ANNEXURE -3]

PRESIDENT OF INDIA sent a letter to Sonia Gandhi to this effect, 3:30
PM, May 17th, 2004.

Swearing Ceremony was scheduled for 5 PM the same Day.

Manmohan Singh was brought in the Picture at the last moment to Save Face!!

Rest of the SACRIFICE DRAMA which she choreographed was an EYE WASH!!!

Infact Sonia Gandhi had sent, 340 letters, each signed by different MP
to the PRESIDENT KALAM, supporting her candidacy for PM.

One of those letters read, I Sonia Gandhi, elected Member from Rai
Bareli, hereby propose Sonia Gandhi as Prime Minister.

So SHE was Pretty INTERESTED! Until She came to know the Facts!

So She didn't make any Sacrifice, It so happens that SONIA GANDHI
couldn't have become the PM of INDIA that time.

You could be Ashamed about that Dear Rahul!! One Credential Sonia G
had, Even that was a HOAX!

THINK ABOUT YOURSELF.

You go to Harvard on Donation Quota. ( Hindujas Gave HARVARD 11
million dollars the same year, when Rajiv Gandhi was in Power)

Then you are expelled in 3 Months/ You Dropped out in 3 Months.... (
Sadly Manmohan Singh wasn't the Dean of Harvard that time, else you
might have had a chance... Too Bad, there is only one Manmohan Singh!)

Some Accounts say, You had to Drop out because of Rajiv Gandhi's Assassination.

May be, But Then Why did you go about lying about being Masters in
Economics from Harvard .. before finally taking it off your Resume
upon questioning by Dr. SUBRAMANIYAM SWAMI (The Gentlemen who exposed
the 2G Scam)

At St. Stephens.. You Fail the Hindi Exam.

Hindi Exam!!!

And you are representing the Biggest Hindi Speaking State of the Country?

SONIA GANDHI's EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Sonia G gave a sworn affidavit as a Candidate that She Studied English
at Uni versity of Cambridge

[SEE ANNEXURE-6, 7_37a]

According to Cambridge University, there is no such Student EVER! [
SEE ANNEXURE -7_39]

Upon a Case by Dr. Subramaniyam Swami filed against her,

She subsequently dropped the CAMBRIDGE CREDENTIAL from her Affidavit.

Sonia Gandhi didn't even pass High School. She is just 5th class Pass!

In this sense, She shares a common Educational Background with her 2G
Partner in Crime, Karunanidhi.

You Fake your Educational Degree, Your Mother Fakes her Educational Degree.

And then you go out saying, " We want Educated Youth into Politics!"

Letters sent by Dr. Swami to EC and then Speaker of Lok Sabha are in
ANNEXURE 7_36 &7_35 RESPECTIVELY

Contrast that with Gandhi Ji , who went to South Africa, Became a
Barrister, on Merit, Left all that to work for South Africa, then for
the Country....

WHY LIE ABOUT EDUCATIONAL CREDENTIALS?

Not that Education is a Prerequisite for being a great Leader, but
then you shouldn't have lied about your qualifications!

You could feel a little ashamed about Lying about your Educational
Qualifications. You had your reasons I know, Because in India, WE
RESPECT EDUCATION!

But who cares about Education, When you are a Youth Icon!!

YOUTH ICON

You traveled in the Local Train for the first time at the Age of 38.

You went to some Villages as a part of Election Campaign.

And You won a Youth Icon!! ... That's why You are my Youth Icon.

For 25 Million People travel by Train Everyday. You are the First
Person to win a Youth Icon for boarding a Train.

Thousands of Postmen go to remotest of Villages. None of them have yet
gotten a Youth Icon.

You were neither YOUNG Nor ICONIC!

Still You became a Youth Icon beating Iconic and Younger Contenders
like RAHUL DRAVID.

Shakespeare said, What's in a Name?

Little did he knew, It's all in the Name, Especially the Surname!

Speaking of Surname, Sir

DO YOU REALLY RESPECT GANDHI, OR IS IT JUST TO CASH IN ON THE GOODWILL
OF MAHATMA?

Because the Name on your Passport is RAUL VINCI.

Not RAHUL GANDHI..

May be if you wrote your Surname as Gandhi, you would have
experienced, what Gandhi feels like, LITERALLY ( Pun Intended)

You People don't seem to use Gandhi much, except when you are fighting
Elections. ( There it makes c omplete sense).

Imagine fighting elections by the Name Raul Vinci...

It feels sadly Ironic, Gandhi Ji, who inspired Icons like Nelson
Mandela ,Martin Luther King Jr. and John Lennon, across the world,
Couldn't inspire members of his party/ Nehru's Family, who only seem
to use his Surname for the purposes of FIGHTING ELECTIONS and
conveniently use a different name on their PASSPORT.

You use the name GANDHI at will and then say, " Mujhe yeh YUVRAJ shabd
Insulting lagta hai! Kyonki aaj Hindustan mein Democracy hai, aur is
shabd ka koi matlab nahin hai!

YUVRAJ, Itna hi Insulting lagta hai, to lad lo RAUL VINCI ke Naam
se!!! Jin Kisano ke saath photo khinchate ho woh bhi isliye entertain
karte hain ki GANDHI ho.. RAUL VINCI bol ke Jao... Ghar mein nahin
ghusaenge!!!

You could feel ashamed for your Double Standards.

YOUTH INTO POLITICS.

Now You want Youth to Join Politics.

I say First you Join Politics.

Because you haven't Joined Politics. You have Joined a Family Business.

First you Join Politics. Win an Election fighting as RAUL VINCI and
Not Rahul Gandhi, then come and ask the youth and the Educated Brass
for more involvement in Politics.

Also till then, Please don't give me examples of Sachin Pilot and
Milind Deora and Naveen Jindal as youth who have joined Politics..

They are not Politicians. They Just happen to be Politicians.

Much Like Abhishek Bachchan and other Star Sons are not Actors. They
just happen to be Actors (For Obvious Reasons)

So, We would appreciate if you stop requesting the Youth to Join
Politics till you establish your credentials...

WHY WE CAN'T JOIN POLITICS!

Rahul Baba, Please understand, Your Father had a lot of money in your
Family account ( in Swiss Bank) when he died.

Ordinary Youth has to WORK FOR A LIVING.

YOUR FAMILY just needs to NETWORK FOR A LIVING

If our Father had left thousands of Crores with us, We might consider
doing the same..

But we have to Work. Not just for ourselves. But also for you. So that
we can pay 30% of our Income to the Govt. which can then be
channelized to the Swiss Banks and your Personal Accounts under some
Pseudo Names.

So Rahul, Please don't mind If the Youth doesn't Join Politics. We are
doing our best to fund your Election Campaigns and your Chopper Trips
to the Villages.

Somebody has to Earn the Money that Politicians Feed On.

NO WONDER YOU ARE NOT GANDHI'S. YOU ARE SO CALLED GANDHI'S!!

Air India, KG Gas Division, 2G, CWG, SWISS BANK Account Details...
Hasan Ali, KGB., FBI Arrest..

You want to feel ashamed..

Fe el Ashamed for what the First Family of Politics has been reduced to...

A Money Laundering Enterprise.

NO WONDER YOU ARE NOT GANDHI'S BY BLOOD. GANDHI is an adopted Name.
For Indira didn't marry Mahatma Gandhi's Son.

For even if you had one GENE OF GANDHI JI in your DNA. YOU WOULDN'T
HAVE BEEN PLAGUED BY SUCH 'POVERTY OF AMBITION' ( Ambition of only
EARNING MONEY)

You really want to feel Ashamed.

Feel Ashamed for what you ' SO CALLED GANDHI'S' have done to MAHATMA'S Legacy..

I so wish GANDHI JI had Copyrighted his Name!

Meanwhile, I would request Sonia Gandhi to change her name to $ONIA
GANDHI, and you could replace the 'R' in RAHUL/RAUL by the New Rupee
Symbol!!!

RAUL VINCI : I am ashamed to call myself an Indian.

Even we are ashamed to call you so!

P.S: Popular Media is either bought or blackmailed, controlled to
Manufacture Consent!

My Guess is Social Media is still a Democratic Platform. (Now they are
trying to put legislations to censor that too!! )

Meanwhile, Let's ask these questions, for we deserve some Answers.

For we are all Gandhi's. For Bapu is the Father of the Nation!

To know more, Try looking for Dr. SUBRAMANIYAM SWAMI. He is the reason
today 2G SCAM is being Investigated!!!

Great Lecture by Sam Harris

What are we afraid of?

Today, the thought stimulus came from Obama's speech on science and Technology. He urges the nation to not let any more microsoft, intel, google, oracle etc. to be created in China (or India). Fair enough, as a president of a country, this is very nice of him to envisage his country as the leader in science and technology. But, as a citizen of India, my interpretation would be "don't let people get scientifically advanced else where, lets monopolize this in USA". Is it good? Nah, I would say. Well, lets get in depth and think what could have been happening all these years. Why we (Indians) are not leaders in science and technology? We have IITs, IIMS and now we have IISc like institutes and still we lack in the innovation quotient. We are unable to retain our raw talents in our own country. From my school days, I have heard people saying "such and such is a bright student, has a great future. I am hoping he/she gets to a foreign country and earn  big name". Not for a moment we think a bright student can be famous in our own country too. Why so? May be from our slavish mentality, we give too much of importance to white superiority. It seems to be there somewhere deep within ourselves that we lack confidence in ourselves. When someone from outside(preferably a white skinned person) says something, we start accepting it. At the same time, we also have too much fear. Yes, it is the fear of not succeeding is what keeping us from succeeding in the first place. We Indians are also averse to taking risk. We think that in our one and only life we should do things perfectly right, so that we lead a normal and comfortable life. That is right. We have tech companies like infosys, TCS etc. that are doing extremely well in terms of services (Read it risk free sector). When it comes to innovation, these companies shy away. At the moment Infosys has enough cash that it can attract bright and young individuals for product creation, but it does not want to. It wants to play safe.
We always look upon western countries for their innovations, and want them to lead us. We lack great leaders to motivate us. Here I feel like giving my own example. I like to do things and grow, but what has stopped me from doing it? It is nothing but my own attitude. I always need someone to tell me what I need to do rather than thinking and executing it by myself. This, despite having full confidence in my own abilities. What am I afraid of? May be fear of being criticized... Ridiculous! In order to grow and be world leaders we need to come out of our own fear and fear of being judged. We have to believe in ourselves and execute our thoughts. Then only India will be a world leader and we can prove Obama wrong.

Need too much happiness stimulus??

I have been listening to Brahma Kumari sister Shivani quite a bit these days. It is morally uplifting and an eye opener regarding many of the issues we face in day to day life...
I have been battling few things in my life such as giving material object to my near and dear ones and getting pleasure out of it. By not giving, would make me unhappy, but at the same time, I don't try to understand if it is absolutely necessary to give them the objects that they may or may not need. Here I said need it not like it - reason: people like a lot of things which they hardly need, so there is a clear difference between the two... Now, why do I want to give something that may not be of much use to them? By going deep inside, I realized that I am giving them for my own pleasure rather than for their pleasure. Does it sound strange? Yes, it is: but the reason is not them, but me. May be I am feeling a sense of satisfaction that I could give them something, may be I am assuming that they will be happy by getting the object and anticipating that, makes me happy, so I tend to do that often. After listening to sister Shivani, I realized that these are nothing but the external stimuli to keep myself happy. So, the underlying cause is me - not anyone else. Actually, in real sense I am not doing anything for anyone, rather trying to provide some kind of stimulus to myself to keep me happy. How true is that... It is almost an eye opener. How often do we do things for fear of loosing somebody's good will or affection? I would say 99% of us do that knowingly or unknowingly. Even I have seen people continuously writing or messaging on social media to keep themselves known or desired. To impose ourselves on somebody else's thoughts. Probably that makes us feel important and we feel good about it. This I thought may be part of being human -but actually not so. Before this media explosion, people still managed a very contended life without needing so much of "happiness stimulus". Now we need it more often than not because we are having a void somewhere, that is severely corroded of self esteem, self satisfaction, well being. We constantly need approval from people near us. We constantly want to be asked for to uplift our ego. That is why we look for happiness stimulus from outside than from within ourselves. I don't have an answer as to how to avoid this, but I am certainly positive that there is a way. May be through meditation or yoga/pranayama.

Installing husband...

I got it forwarded few times earlier but it sounds funnier every time I read it...
INSTALLING HUSBAND
A woman writes to the IT Technical support Guy
To,
Dear Tech Support
,

Last year I upgraded from
Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and I noticed a distinct slowdown in the overall system performance,

particularly in the flower and jewellery applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition,
Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as
Romance 9.5
and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as NEWS 5..0, MONEY 3.0 and CRICKET 4.1.

Conversation 8.0
no longer runs, and House cleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system..

Please note that I have tried running
Nagging 5..3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.

What can I do?

Signed,

DEAR Madam,

First, keep in mind,
Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system.

Please enter command:
ithoughtyoulovedme. html and try to download Tears 6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update.
If that application works as designed,
Husband1..0 should then automatically run the applications Jewellery 2.0 and Flowers 3.5..

However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause
Husband 1.0 to default to Silence 2.5 or Beer 6.1.
Please note that
Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will download the Snoring Loudly Beta.

In addition, please do not attempt to reinstall the
Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary,
Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly.
You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance.
We recommend:
Cooking 3.0 and Hot Looks 7.7. cid:image001.gif@01CC0359.2A212650

Good Luck Madam
!

Now This is my Version:

I did not have a chance to have entertainment package Boyfriend 5.0, instead I got an upgraded version Husband 5.0. It did occasionally run flower 2.1 and jewellery 1.0 applications initially, but long since these applications have crashed. I thought these programs come as trial versions - free for certain period of time. News 7.9 and Money 10.5 is already installed long time back and always runs in the background. Cricket application has been disabled. I tried nagging 5.1 to solve these problems, but to no avail. Most of the time Husband 5.0 slips into silence mode and needs re-booting. Loudsnowringbeta is operating in full swing.
