It has been a while since I last posted my real article. I am now posting more slowly than ever, could mean 2 things: 1) I am getting busier 2) It is less happening. While The first point is more desirable, I would like the second point to NOT be true.
It has been about 4 months since we came here to Kolkata. Let me catalogue what all we have done so far:
Office Front:
1) Bought a digital microscope
2) Bought a laminar flow
3) Bought 3 rack servers and allocated static ip to it
4) Bought printers, scanners, copier, UPS, network switch
5) Got my office painted
6) Bought furniture for my office
7) Placed orders for glassware, wet lab stuff, some equipments
8) Placed order for students computers
Presentation-wise:
1) Made an RC presentation on 2nd Nov 2012
2) Presented encode project on 11th September
3) Teaching Ph.D course work for Bioinformatics and bio-statistics
4) Hooked in to teach Ms. Microbiology
5) Hooked in to teach in NIPER
Collaboration-wise:
1) Struck collaboration with Shanti-Niketan
2) Struck collaboration with West Bengal State University and Kolkata University
3) Struck collaboration with NBFGR, Lucknow
4) Wrote 2 ICAR pre-proposals
5) Wrote Welcome-DBT pre-proposal
6) Wrote one CSIR pre-proposal.
7) Wrote one page write out for CSIR networking project
8) Wrote a white paper on plant genome sequencing for Ayush
9) Collaborating on Arsenic work with Dr. Giri
10) Collaborating on cancer transcriptome work with Susanto Roy-Choudhury
Student-wise
1) Got one Ph.D student officially although she is not working for me directly.
2) Lined up another 5 students for Ph.d
3) Got one MTech student
4) Got 2 final year BTech students.
5) Advertised for a research assistant
Trip-wise
1) Made an invited trip to Lucknow NBFGR
2) Made a trip to Shanti-Niketan
3) Made a trip to Puri
4) Made a trip to Bhubaneswar
5) Lined up for a trip to Mumbai to sell our apartment
6) Lined up for a trip to Benaras for giving lectures on bioinformatics (Dec 10-13, 2012)
Home-wise: (Although my contribution is minimal here)
1) Found guest house
2) Got cell phones and number
3) Got internet
4) Furnished our house completely
5) Got gas
6) Got car and driver
7) Got a maid to work in our house
8) Selling our Mumbai flat
9) Taken care of bank things
10) sorting out many other pending issues
Now Pramod is all set to move to Mumbai on Bank Of America's coming back to him again
Work wise I am super excited to start my first sets of BGA sequencing sooon......
